Presby Memorial Iris Gardens

Presby Memorial Iris Garden was established in 1927 to honor Frank H. Presby, one of the founders of The American Iris Society and is located in Upper Montclair, NJ. It is a living museum, listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Sites. It offers a spectacular display of thousand of iris varieties to visitors from around the world. 

New York Botanical Gardens

The New York Botanical Garden is a National Historic Landmark located in the Bronx, New York City. The 250-acre site's verdant landscape supports over one million living plants in extensive collections. Here, the founders of The American Iris Society gathered on January 29, 1920 to establish a new plant society.

Wave Hill Public Gardens

Wave Hill  is a 28-acre estate in the Hudson Hill section of Riverdale, The Bronx, in New York City. Wave Hill currently consists of public horticultural gardens and a cultural center, all situated on the slopes overlooking the Hudson River, with expansive views across the river to the New Jersey Palisades.

Untermyer Gardens (ON YOUR OWN)

If you have time, we highly recommend that you visit the Untermyer Park, which is a historic 43 acre park located in Yonkers, Westchester County, New York, just north of New York City. Also known as Untermyer Gardens, it is situated on a hillside above the Hudson River. The park features a Persian Garden, a small Grecian-style amphitheater, a classical pavilion, statuary, a rock and water feature called the "Temple of Love" and a "Vista" staircase. To the west, the park has views of the Hudson River and the Palisades.

The High line NYC (Optional)

The High Line is a 1.45-mile-long elevated linear park, greenway and rail trail, created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. The abandoned spur has been redesigned as a "living system" drawing from multiple disciplines which include landscape architecture, urban design and ecology. Since opening in 2009, the High Line has become an icon of contemporary landscape architecture.

International Iris Competition

The American Iris Society will conduct its first ever International Iris Competition. The site of the competition will be the Presby Memorial Iris Garden, in Upper Montclair, NJ. The judging will be conducted  separately from the convention, but attendees will be able to see all the entries and winners on the scheduled visit to the gardens.
